Oral Surgery
Oral surgery in dentistry refers to surgical procedures performed on the mouth, jaws, and surrounding tissues.
Wisdom tooth extractions at MMDC are performed by Dr. Chantal Mhanna, our specialist periodontist, and our oral surgery team. Dr. Chantal has extensive experience in surgical extractions including impacted wisdom teeth.
Wisdom teeth may need to be removed when they are impacted (unable to fully erupt), causing pain, infection, crowding of adjacent teeth, or cysts. MMDC evaluates wisdom teeth with X-rays to determine whether extraction is necessary.
The extraction is performed under local anaesthesia at MMDC, so you will not feel pain during the procedure. Some soreness and swelling is normal in the days following surgery. Our team provides detailed post-operative care instructions to ensure a smooth recovery.
MMDC offers a range of oral surgery procedures including surgical tooth extractions, wisdom tooth removal, dental implant placement, bone grafting, and treatment of oral cysts and lesions. All procedures are performed by our experienced dental surgeons.
Recovery time varies depending on the complexity of the procedure. Simple extractions typically heal within a few days, while surgical extractions such as impacted wisdom teeth may require 7 to 10 days for initial healing. MMDC provides a full aftercare plan for every patient.
