Dental veneers are thin porcelain shells designed to cover the visible surface of teeth. They improve the appearance of teeth by correcting imperfections such as stains, fractures, gaps, or misaligned teeth. This treatment is highly sought after for its ability to provide a natural, aesthetically pleasing smile while preserving tooth structure.
First step
The process of making your veneers consists of an initial consultation with our Cosmetic Dentist. The purpose of this consultation is to have a discussion about what you are looking for: the ideal shape of the teeth, the color and the level of the gums. In addition, our dentists will examine your oral condition to develop your ideal treatment plan. This appointment concludes with a session of photos and impressions of your teeth which is used to create a mockup (prototype of your veneers).
Second step
At the second appointment, we use the mock-up of your teeth provided by our dental laboratory to create temporary simulation of the end result. This gives you a more realistic idea of the final smile before we begin. Once the desired result is achieved, we can begin treatment at the next appointment or on the same day.
Third step
Preparing teeth for porcelain veneers involves calculating the tooth size to achieve the ideal space for a porcelain restoration. This step is critical because if the reduction is insufficient, the veneers may break. A final impression and photos of the prepared teeth are sent to the lab for the fabrication of permanent veneers. In the meantime, the teeth are covered with temporary veneers.
The Final Step
The final appointment is a few days after the preparation appointment. The permanent veneers are placed, and the dentist will assess their fit, shape, contour, occlusion, and tooth contact. You will have the opportunity to evaluate the result before the final cementation. The veneers are only bonded when you are satisfied with the final result.
